Well, the name Ice hockey itself is so exciting. One of the most popular games in America, Ice hockey is a team sport. Let’s know more about this sport.  It is generally known as “hockey” in countries like Canada, USA, Latvia, Sweden and some other countries, but known as “Ice Hockey” in countries like South America, Africa, Australasia, Netherlands and Spain where hockey more habitually refers to field hockey.

Ice hockey started in 19th century and has evolved from simple stick and ball game. In recent times, it is usually played on rink, Ice hockey is a sport played by skaters who use their sticks to direct a vulcanized rubber puck into their challenger’s net to make points. Teams playing Ice Hockey normally consist of four lines of three forwards, three pairs of defence men and two goal tenders. Goal tender’s job is to stop the puck from going through the net.
National Hockey League (NHL) is the most popular and the highest level of men’s hockey I North America. I know you all know about it! Ice hockey is even official national winter sport of Canada, where it is enjoyed by everyone. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) is the governing body for international ice hockey tournaments and maintains IIHF World Rankings. All over the world, about 73 countries have ice Hockey Federations.
